Sama Duo Rising: New Tracks at MySpace

Rehearsals have been going very well, with the electric material shaping up nicely. We did a couple of gigs last weekend, most notably at the Reptilian Lounge, which was a lot of fun. We also were the guest on the community access channel "WV" talk show. He hasnt posted the footage yet, I'll post an update when he does.

We've replaced all the music tracks on our MySpace page with new material from recent rehearsals. I'm not afraid to share works in progress and documenting the Duo as it evolves, so feel free to check out the current state of the group.

We're planning to record a new CD in the spring, and are in the process of stepping up the performance activity in the area over the next few months as part of honing the material for the recording project.

Stay tuned!

some news and updates

Its been far too long since ive given this site some attention, but at long last, with some final color adjustments and some general fixes, we're ready to rock.

in various news, the Sama Duo will be playing a special Mother's Day brunch at the new Ayurvedic restaurant Annapurna, this Sunday, 11 to 1. They are at 908 West Alameda in Santa Fe, 988.9688. We played an impromptu set there tonight to get the feel of the room - a bit cavernous, but maneageable. Glad we checked it out beforehand.

Ive posted a new entry on the sama page, with new mp3s - a culmination of our travel bug performances to date. Id really like your feedback on some of this, so please check the page!

filling in some blanks

There has been some behind the scenes work in filling out the site, primarily with audio samples. I'm taking a fresh look at what Ive had up previously, made some minor changes/additions, and I also intend to fill some gaps. LUTS, for example, has never been particularly well documented or made available, (despite some demos that got nice reviews) so I intend to remedy that with LUTS material up in about a probably within a month or so. All the material that was active and available on the old site should be back in place in a day or so.

(Interesting side note about LUTS; the fretless guitar seems to lend itself to that material, with a fresh udpate/tweak on it. I may do some reincarnation of that group this year...)

Im also investing the time to re encode everything at a higher quality rate and Im going strictly mp3 this time, with both 'pseudo stream' delivery (m3u files) and the actual mp3s themselves if you want to wait for full downloads. If you opt for the latter, I highly reccommend going the podcast route, as some of the pieces are quite long and may take a bit of time.

As always, leave a comment if theres a problem, once the links are up in a day or so - or leave a thought about what you hear as well!
